Decorating For Thanksgiving
There are many ways to add a seasonal theme to your house. Here are some tips to help decorate your home for Thanksgiving 2011:
1 Assemble a fall-inspired centerpiece. If you want to keep it simple, just put some seasonal fruits in a straw basket perhaps decorated with some leaves and place it in the center of your table. It’s simple but attractive and easy to do, plus the fruits will definitely make a nice snack or an accompaniment to dessert. Once Thanksgiving is over and the fruits have been eaten, you don’t need to store anything for next year.
2. Colorwise, you should choose autum colors. What are the colors associated with fall? Earthy tones such as browns, dark greens, yellows and orange are good choices. Try and coordinate the colors of various decorative items in your home such as plates, tablecloth and napkins.
3. Cut out the shapes of leaves from brown, yellow, and orange art paper then write a letter on each of them. By joining the leaves together with string, you can spell out a Thanksgiving related phrase such as “Thank You”, Thanksgiving” or “Gratitude”. These can then be hung across your windows or doors.
4. Outdoor items can also be used inside your home as decorations. Look around your garden or local market for items such as pine cones, leaves, twigs, twine, and straw to add a seasonal look to your home. These fall elements can be used to provide a seasonal look to your home either as part of your centerpiece or other decorative elements.
5. An attractive but simple fall decoration is to use candles of all shapes and sizes. Choose candles with the colors and scents of Thanksgiving. The scent of a candle can also be used to good effect with smells such as Cinnamon giving your home a nice Thanksgiving aroma. They’re also lovely decorative elements during Thanksgiving dinner itself, giving the event a warm and welcoming feel.
