When you hear the word Christmas, what exactly goes to your head?  I guess almost everyone would want to think of food, gifts, family and probably anything that causes us to feel great.  Actually, that’s what Christmas is really all about.  It ought to remind us of all the nice things that life brings.  No matter how big or small our savings or income may be, Christmas ought to be celebrated with joy and happiness.  It doesn’t truly matter how little or how much we are giving as long as we are sharing it whole heartedly.  That is the true essence of Christmas.

However, beyond the expensive gifts, personalized Christmas cards, delicious dinner or the seemingly endless merrymaking, I do think that we must not forget why we celebrate Christmas.

Back when I was much youthful, my parents used to tell me stories about Jesus Christ.  I remember that the plot of his birth or what many of us might refer to as the nativity was my personal favorite.  I believe that it was actually one of the most amazing story regarding Jesus before he was nailed in the crucifix.  That is because it really feels so humbling to learn that somebody as superior as him will be born with utmost simplicity.  Perhaps, that time, it was even a really cheap way to be born.

Today, women who are pregnant would carefully select the medical center they are going to give birth and families would need to save a lot of money for this event.  Prior to having a baby, pregnant ladies will have to buy plenty of things for the unborn baby and we even have the modern technology which allows us to take a glance of just how our unborn babies look like.  I guess having a baby these days has gotten too expensive.

During Jesus’ period, he was born inside a manger.  A manger is actually an animal shelter.  So essentially, when Mary had been experiencing labor pains, she was with the farm animals.  And if the newborn Jesus could see, he might have first seen farm animals aside from his father and mother.  There used to be no nurses and no doctors to help them.

I just hope that whenever we have Christmas or intend to give some business Christmas cards, we will always think about the humility that God has shown us. And as much as we are able to, we should at all times make ourselves modest and grant this humility to others.  I hope that it doesn’t only take place on the twenty fifth of December but the whole year round.  This way, we might have not been fortunate to assist Jesus during the time of his birth yet we will surely have lived up to the lessons and ideals that He has shown us.

Face it – we all want to feel special on Valentines Day. Candy hearts can help us feel special, or a card…or flowers….whatever. But guys aren’t very good at mind reading (as if you haven’t seen that already!) so if you want to get candy from your guy, you’ll need to let him know ahead of time.

So you need to decide what you want for Valentines Day. Candy, though popular, may not be what you want. Let’s weigh the options:

The Up-Side To Candy For Valentines Day

It tastes good.

Yep. Sometimes it really hits the spot. But then, so do many other things – and many of them are less damaging to your figure!

Oh wait – “they” say chocolate is actually healthy for you to have once in a while, especially dark chocolate! But do you think they mean a pound of dark chocolate, consumed over the course of a few days? Probably not.

What else…..It’s sweet, so there’s that cutesy little connection about “sweets for the sweet”…Sickly sweet, if you ask me.

The Down-Side To The Valentines Day Candy

Obviously, the first down-side to getting the candy for Valentines Day is that it is fattening. Your guy probably doesn’t mean to sabotage your weight loss, but candy can mess things up for you. “Just one bite” leads to many, many, more. It’s hard to have self-control once the Valentines Day candy is in the house. If you are conscious at all of what you eat, you probably don’t want that much of this.

Another way to look at it is this: If you eat a lot of candy from your valentine this year, you’ll gain weight and not as likely to have a valentine for next year!

Valentines Day candy is expensive – at least, the good stuff is. Since it is a seasonal product, the price is fitting for the expectations of the season. Ante up, pardner!

Finally, buying you some Valentines Day candy is the easiest “romantic” thing in the book. Do you really want to let you guy off the hook that easily? There’s no creativity involved at all!

What’s The Alternative?

If you don’t want Valentines Day candy, let your guy know. Don’t be shy about asking for what you do want. “Honey, instead of Valentines Day candy this year, how about we write each other love poems?” You could suggest instead that you spend the money on that vacation you’ve been saving for, or his new golf clubs (he’ll like that).

If you don’t want him to spend money on a Valentines Day card, let him know. “Sweetie, rather than buy me a card, how about we make them for each other this year? Just for fun?” He may not agree that it is fun, but if you’ve got a good relationship and good intentions, he’ll probably go along with you – at least this year.

Although Valentines Day comes every year, many people like to make each year as memorable as they can. There are varied ways to make Valentines Day memorable and one of the most vital is to share this special day with a person or with persons whom you share a special feeling or love with. A valentine day idea can be anything that catches the fancy of the couple or group as long as it is done with much love and laughter. It is also a great idea to bring along a well thought out valentine gift idea for your special someone.

Out Of Town Trips

One valentine day idea that usually helps to make it memorable is to take a short out of town trip with your special someone or with a special group of friends. For couples, a romantic trip can suffice and help to make the valentine day idea a success. While trips to Bali and Hawaii may be a surefire way to make the day memorable it may also be a bit expensive. Trips to somewhere closer may be more affordable and preferable for some people with obligations for the next day.

Other valentine day ideas that may help to make the day more successful are to have an adventure trip, not necessarily have an overnight stay but just spend most of the day in a place with adventures for adventure seekers. A short kayak ride or white water rafting trip for the afternoon of day may suit many people who do not want to stay to far way or too long away from the city or from work or home. This valentine day idea is feasible for most parents or office workers.

Other valentine day ideas that will help to make the day more memorable is to cook for your loved ones or loved one. Making the dinner that you will eat on this special day may actually make this one of the most memorable days of your life as a couple. Of course, some care must be done when choosing the meal especially taking care to find out food allergies and likes. Another valentine day idea that has something to do with meals is to take your partner on a private picnic, preferably where there are not a lot of people around. A private or secluded beach might suffice, or the back of a pick up truck driven to a wildlife park.

Whichever valentine day idea works for you and your partner, make sure that there is much love and laughter between you or among friends.

A Valentines Day poem is actually something that a person usually gives or reads to their special someone on this special day. The option to make his or her own Valentines Day poem is actually up to the person but there are many other poems that can express exactly how a person feels without the need to make one. There are many romantic poets who have penned poems that abound with romance and love; of course, one can not claim to the recipient that this poem is his or her making without deception. One may opt to deceive the recipient of the poem, but there is a big chance of being caught in the end with this deception.

Romantic Poets

Here are some recommendations of Valentines Day poems for those who may have some difficulty making their own Valentines Day poems. William Shakespeare is not only known for his stage plays but also for his numerous sonnets based on romantic love. If one scans his sonnets and some of his other works, there is sure to be some phrase or lines that expresses the feelings of love of the person. Lord Byron is also another well known figure who has penned several poems that are befitting to be Valentines Day poems. Other possible poets who may have some Valentines Day poems are Percy Shelley, John Keats and William Wordsworth.

Original Valentines Day Poem

There is the option to make one’s very own Valentines Day poem. This is definitely an original way of greeting your loved one a Happy Valentines Day. The simplest way to make a Valentines Day poem is to know the basics of poetry making. As many people believe, rhymes are one of the essentials for making a poem. The most common form of poems is the ones with four lines and those with ending rhymes. This is probably the easiest form of poetry to make.

In these modern times there are little rules regarding writing poetry. Even the rhyming can be moved from the traditional rhymes at the end of each second line of each stanza to other parts of the line. This rhyme scheme may be the most common or easiest to make for some people as this is what they usually encounter in written forms. A Valentines Day poem is usually an expression of how the poet or the soon to be poet feels. The different meters of poetry writing as well as the rhyme scheme may be something that one should consider when writing Valentines Day poems.
