Funny Christmas Song

If your family enjoys singing Christmas carols, perhaps you would like to add some new songs to the more traditional ones. It used to be that Christmas songs were very serious in nature being mostly religious. Then, as time went on, Christmas songs began to focus more on topics like family and Santa Claus. Now, you can also sing funny Christmas songs! Funny Christmas songs can be original, but most often they are parodies of famous Christmas songs.

One of the earliest examples of original funny Christmas songs is “I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus.” In this song, a child sings about how she caught her mother kissing who she though was Santa Claus, and she’s in wonder. Of course, to adults, the song is quite funny because they know it was the mother kissing the father.

Another example of a funny Christmas song that was original was “All I Want for Christmas is my Two Front Teeth.” In this song, a child sings about the best Christmas gift would be to have two front teeth, so that words could finally be pronounced correctly. This is a song that many people can identify with, because they remember what it was like when they did not have their front teeth either.

As was previously mentioned, funny Christmas songs are now mostly in the form of parodies. For example, take the famous song “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.” In the song, some of the new lyrics are: Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer, had a very shiny nose (like a light bulb!)/ All of the other reindeer, used to laugh and call him names (like Pinocchio)/They never let poor Rudolph join in any reindeer games (like Monopoly!).

Another funny Christmas song that has to do with reindeer is “Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer.” In this song, a man sings about how when he was younger, his grandmother got run over by a reindeer when she was visiting their house on Christmas Eve. Some people might not believe in Santa, but after that incident, the man now certainly does!

Of course, “The Twelve Days of Christmas” has been made into a funny Christmas song as well, with the new lyrics having to do with the annoyances of trying to decorate, as well as trying to find Christmas gifts. So, the next time you have a family get together at Christmas, sing some funny Christmas songs, which will result in fun memories.
