Its a Wonderful Life Director
It's a Wonderful Life
Director: Frank Capra
Frank Russell Capra (May 18, 1897
September 3, 1991) was an Academy Award winning Italian-American film director
and a major creative force behind a number of highly popular films of the 1930s
and 1940s, including It's a Wonderful Life and Mr. Smith Goes to
Washington.
It's a Wonderful Life (1946) was considered a box office
disappointment but it was nominated for the Academy Awards for Best Director,
Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Sound Recording and Best Editing. The American
Film Institute named it one of the best films ever made, putting it at the top
of the list of AFI's 100 Years... 100 Cheers, a list of what AFI considers to
be the most inspirational American movies of all time. The film also appeared
in another AFI Top 100 list: it placed at 11th on AFI's 100 Years... 100 Movies
list of the top American films.
It's a Wonderful Life: A
Story About an Entrepreneur and the Real Meaning of Success &
Wealth
On the surface, the movie appears to be a sappy, sentimental film
which puts a smile on our face and brings tears to our eyes, every time. In
reality, this film serves as a universal story of the enduring human spirit --
filled with many powerful lessons about life, business and money.

Frank Capras film
ITS A WONDERFUL LIFE, starring Jimmy Stewart, stands out as the single
most effective movie describing American banking and the destructive effect it
can have on the average citizen. Standing almost alone against the financiers
propaganda of the past five decades, Capras message rings true.
It's A Wonderful Life (1946)
It's A
Wonderful Life (1946), originally made for Liberty Films, is one of the most
popular and heartwarming films ever made by director Frank Capra. Frank Capra
regarded this film as his own personal favorite - it was also James Stewart's
favorite of all his feature films.
It's a Wonderful Life (1946) at Reel
Classics
One of the most popular American films of all-time and a
perennial holiday favorite, IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE was not a huge hit with
either critics or audiences when it debuted in December 1946 but was nominated
for five Academy Awards including Best Picture, Best Actor (Jimmy Stewart), and
Best Director (Frank Capra). After slipping quickly into obscurity, it began
appearing on television occasionally in the late 1950s. But when the film's
copyright lapsed in 1973, IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE quickly became a staple of
American TV programming between Thanksgiving and Christmas and belatedly earned
its rightful place in the lexicon of American popular culture. Ranked #11 on
the American Film Institute's list of Greatest Films, IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE is
an indisputable movie classic.
